Hello and welcome! My name is Julia Majury, the owner and artist behind Precious Penelope Designs.

Retired from a full-time career as an auditor, I am an artist in a pragmatist’s clothing. My fiber art journey began with a desire to find a creative outlet that was lacking in my professional life. Making functional things like bags and quilts, with my own touch of color and creativity, appealed to my practical nature. More recently, I have begun exploring the use of fiber as decorative art, primarily through collage. 

In 2013, I started Precious Penelope Designs. I won four consecutive Row by Row Experience quilt challenges from 2014 through 2017, have received several ribbons in quilting and crochet from the Perry County Community Fair, including first place in 2016 for my Row by Row quilt and first place for a flannel baby quilt in 2018. I am also a Sulky Certified Teacher.  In 2018, my quilted collage, “Sunnymoon” was accepted into the Perry County Council of the Arts’ Annual Juried Exhibition, winning Third Place in Other Media, and will be on display in the Landis House in Newport, PA through January 18, 2019.

These days, I spend my time in my happy place...a cozy sewing studio on a small farm shared with my husband, my mom, our three cats and our Puggle puppy in rural Central Pennsylvania.
